Protection and opportunity, under one roof
Nate Sahlman started Sahlman Insurance Group with a simple belief: people deserve both protection and opportunity. After more than a decade in sales and financial services, he founded SIG around 2020 to do two things well — help working families secure the right life insurance, and help driven people build real careers doing the same. As an independent agency based in Charlotte, North Carolina and serving families across 15 states, SIG isn’t tied to one company’s products. Nate’s team shops multiple national life insurance carriers to fit each family — term, whole, universal and children’s life, accidental death, and annuities — and takes time to explain the options in plain language, never a one-size-fits-all pitch. New agents learn through mentorship, not pressure. Those values live in the name itself: Service, Accountability, Honesty, Leadership, Mentorship, Ambition, and Nurture.
“I built SIG so families get the right coverage from carriers we actually shop for them — and so good people can build real careers helping others.”

Frequently asked questions
How much life insurance does my family actually need?
It depends on your income, debts, mortgage, and goals — there’s no one-size-fits-all answer. Our free Coverage Needs calculator gives you a starting estimate, and a licensed Sahlman agent will help you find the right amount for your budget at no cost.
What types of coverage does Sahlman Insurance Group offer?
We help families with term life, whole life, universal life, children’s whole life, accidental death insurance, and annuities & retirement strategies. Because we’re independent, we shop multiple national life insurance carriers to find the right fit for you.
Does it cost anything to get a quote?
No. A coverage review and quote are always free and come with no obligation. You only pay a premium if you choose to put a policy in place.
Can you cover my children?
Yes. Depending on the carrier, children’s whole life insurance is generally available for children from 14 days old to age 17, locking in rates and permanent coverage that stays in force even if their health changes later, as long as premiums are paid. An optional guaranteed purchase rider can let them add coverage later, up to set limits on set dates.
I’m interested in a career in insurance — what does that look like?
Most of our agents start with no experience. We help you get licensed — requirements vary by state. Five of the 15 states we serve (Florida, Georgia, Illinois, Kentucky, and New Jersey) require a pre-licensing course first, while the other ten let you go straight to the state exam; state exam and application fees typically total roughly $85–$310, plus course tuition where one is required. From there, we mentor you hands-on through your first appointments. Income is commission-based and not guaranteed — see our disclosures.
